SP—Arte Rotas 2025

For SP–Arte Rotas 2025, FLEXA presents a selection of works that takes eroticism as its point of departure. Throughout the history of art, eroticism has been a constant presence, evolving alongside cultural movements, the taboos of each era, and shifts in ways of thinking. It is precisely this transformative dimension of eroticism that we seek to highlight. In art, the erotic extends beyond the mere presence of the body or an attempt to represent desire. It becomes a complex language, one that speaks to both the intimate and the collective. Through eroticism, artists explore a wide range of themes related to identity, power, and affect.

The selection includes works by Adriana Varejão, Alair Gomes, Alvim Corrêa, Di Cavalcanti, Ivan Serpa, Joaquín Torres-García, Miguel Rio Branco, Miriam Inez da Silva, Regina Parra, Tomie Ohtake, Tunga, and Vik Muniz, among others, reflecting Flexa’s program, which is grounded in a commitment to the diverse approaches and contexts of modern and contemporary art. In doing so, we bring together established artists and significant works, allowing them to be reexamined through the lens of the present, alongside artists whose practices emerge from the urgencies of today. To bring eroticism into focus in this context is an attempt to reactivate a committed sensibility—a call to the body and to presence as a way of recalling what remains vital in shared experience.
